Linda Tanksley White: ancestry and the Tanksley name (derived ...
According to a geneology published by Charles W. Tankersley, New York, New York about 1895, borthers Richard and George Tankersley settled in King George County, Virginia about 1708. Based upon the history of Tankersley Hall, that would appear to be unlikely, as that account states that the Tankersley line died out well before 1708. Oh, well, no doubt my ancestors did hail from Tankersley. (My direct ancestor shortened the name to Tanksley around 1840 in Tennessee, although his siblings continued to use the full surname, Tankersley.)
You have a delightful website and viewing it is the next best thing to visiting. Thank you.

Glen Tankersley: Ancestry
I am a descedent of Henry De Tankersley and I've been tracking my geneology for years. I was thankful to come across this site to learn more of the history behind Tankersley and the Old Hall.
